All "A" Classic Attendance Highest in Decade

The recent All “A” Classic at Eastern Kentucky University recorded a total attendance of 38,201, the highest number for the annual event since 2008.

The statewide basketball tournament for small schools returned to the Richmond campus this year after six years at the Frankfort Convention Center. EKU hosted the tournament from 1991 to 2011.

Attendance at the nine sessions of the tournament ranged from 2,277 to 7,114 and averaged 4,245. The total attendance at last year’s All “A” Classic in Frankfort was 26,521.

Murray High School captured the girls’ championship, while Lexington Christian High School won the boys’ title. Kyle Rode of the Lexington Christian boys’ team and Lexi Mayes of the Murray girls’ team were the respective MVPs of the tournament.
