Art & Design Dept. to Host High School Open Studio Day

Eastern Kentucky University’s Department of Art and Design will welcome more than 350 students from throughout the region to its High School Open Studio Day on Friday, Feb. 26.

Students are expected from the following school districts: Paris Independent, Laurel County, Jessamine County, Fayette County, Boyle County, Mercer County, Garrard County, Madison County, Frankfort Independent, Danville Independent and Anderson County.

While on the Richmond campus, the high school students will work with EKU art faculty in their studios and experience a day in the life of an EKU art student. Fields represented include art education, graphic design, foundations, jewelry design, printmaking, photography, ceramics, painting, sculpture and art history. The event, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Campbell Building, will include hands-on activities, demonstrations, prizes, facility tours, a visit to the Giles Gallery and lunch sponsored by EKU Admissions.
