American Sign Language educator, activist and author Jonathan Webb will speak at Eastern Kentucky University on Thursday, Oct. 26, as part of the University’s year-long Chautauqua series.
Webb will present “Transformation through Story” at 7:30 p.m. in O’Donnell Hall of the Whitlock Building. The lecture, free and open to the public, also marks EKU’s celebration of Disability Employment Awareness Month.
The author of “KG: The South,” Webb is co-owner and president of Sign Enhancers Inc. In August 2017, after spending several years developing an ASL program at Iowa State University, he began teaching interpreting in the world’s oldest deaf studies department at California State University-Northridge. In July 2017, he was invited to serve as plenary speaker at the 2017 RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) annual conference.
He is frequently invited to speak at college campuses about systems of oppression and how to navigate them through the use of visioning and conscious dialogue.
