Due to construction in Alumni Coliseum beginning in March 2024 and factors such as weather and seating capacity with other venue options on campus, Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) will hold its Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremony at Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.
Located 35 minutes north of campus, Alltech Arena allows graduates to bring an unlimited number of guests and offers several large parking lots, concessions, ADA seating and a comfortable environment that will not be affected by weather conditions.
“With several upgrades happening across the Campus Beautiful in the spring, we have worked diligently to locate the best venue for EKU’s Spring 2024 Commencement Ceremonies,” said EKU President David McFaddin. “We were excited to find that Alltech Arena offers the perfect fit for our needs. While this ceremony will look a little different than others, we will be rolling out the maroon carpet for an exceptional EKU commencement experience.”

Commencement ceremonies for Fall 2023 graduates will not be impacted by renovations and will be held Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Baptist Health Arena inside Alumni Coliseum on EKU’s campus. Additional details for Fall 2023 Commencement Ceremonies can be found at go.eku.edu/Fall23.
