Eastern Kentucky University athletics announced a series of enhancements to the game day experience at Colonel football games this season. The enhancements were designed to improve the game day experience for Colonel Club members, families and students.
The 2018 season begins for the Colonels on August 30 when Morehead State visits Roy Kidd Stadium. For season ticket information, contact the EKU Athletics Ticket Office at 844-3-GOBIGE.
Colonel Club members, along with all fans, will have the luxury of the addition of LIVE 4.8mm hi-resolution sports content on a 12-foot by 7-foot MAX Mobile LED screen in the Colonel Club parking lot at selected games.
Families will benefit this season from the Family Fun Fan Zone. The new family area will sit just outside the main entrance to Roy Kidd Stadium near the outdoor basketball courts. The Family Fun Fan Zone will include inflatable interactive games, Mad Scoops, food truck selections at the new Food Truck Alley, and more.
In conjunction with the Family Fun Fan Zone, fans can also purchase the new Family Fun Fan Pack that includes four game tickets, one single game parking pass and a $10 food voucher to Food Truck Alley. This ticket package is just $50. It is recommended that this package be purchased in advance in order to fully enjoy its amenities.
A number of additions will be added to the student tailgate lot, sponsored by Apollo’s Pizza. Apollo’s Pizza will setup in front of the EKU Fitness & Wellness Center with multiple food options available.
Sterl the Pearl® will DJ within the student tailgate lot. He is the official DJ for Minority Business Entrepreneur Magazine as well as spinning for several large events, festivals, weddings, and celebrity galas. He is also an executive partner with Urban Hangover, a destination vacation company with team building and leadership exercises for the attendees. Sterl the Pearl® has been heard all over the U.S. and in Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, and Indonesia.
With the approval of Student Life, the Student Government Association, the President’s Council, Greek Alumni and current chapters, the student tailgate lot was moved before the 2017 season to the lot adjacent to the Fitness & Wellness Center to enhance the student experience at home football games. Admission is FREE for all EKU students to all home athletics events.
For the first game of the season against Morehead State the Fan Jam Tailgate will be available for students, in collaboration with Student Life and Campus Recreation. The first 500 students who participate in the Fan Jam Tailgate will have access to free food at the Apollo’s food trailer and a free t-shirt at the student gate entrance. In addition, an inflatable TV screen, interactive games, pop corn, cotton candy, snow cones, lawn games, and much more will be provided.
Also for the first game of the season against the Eagles, Coca-Cola sunglasses will be given out, while supplies last, at student entrance.
As a reminder to fans, EKU introduced the RV Zone last year. The RV Zone is designed to provide Colonel football fans a unique and unforgettable tailgating experience. The RV Zone is available for both single game and full season passes. Single game passes start at $50 per game, and include two general admission tickets for the game. Full season passes are available for $200, and include two general admission tickets for each home game.
