Homecoming Celebrates "Decades of Colonel Pride"

Eastern Kentucky University graduates, their families and other friends of the University are invited to Homecoming 2015 Oct. 23-25 for “Blasts from the Past: Celebrating Decades of Colonel Pride.”

Thousands are expected for a weekend full of festivities, floats, football, family fun and fellowship.

“It’s a great time for students, faculty, staff, alumni, family and friends to come together to celebrate the difference Eastern has made, and is still making, in so many lives,” said Kari Martin, assistant vice president for alumni and donor engagement.

Some activities are scheduled well before the weekend. Highlights of the week include:

Monday, Oct. 19

·         Rocksoberfest, 7-10 p.m., Fitness and Wellness Center.

Tuesday, Oct. 20

·         Arlington Golf Classic, 8:30 a.m., The University Club at Arlington.

·         Eastern’s Got Talent, 7 p.m., Brock Auditorium.

Wednesday, Oct. 21

·         Block Party, featuring Ballroom Thieves, 5-8 p.m., Ravine.

Thursday, Oct. 22

·         Colonel Corn Roast and Pep Rally, 5 p.m., Powell Plaza.

Friday, Oct. 23

·         Town & Gown Tailgate, 11 a.m., Madison County Courthouse Lawn, hosted by Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

·         Step Show, 8 p.m., Brock Auditorium.

·         March of the Colonels, 8:45 p.m., “Centennial Man” statue outside Powell Building.

·         Bonfire and Movie on the Green, 9 p.m., intramural fields.

·         Young Alumni After-Party, 9 p.m., Paddy Wagon, Main Street.

Saturday, Oct. 24

·         5K Homecoming Run/Walk, 8 a.m., Student Recreation Center.

·         Alumni Family Brunch, 9:30 a.m., Alumni Center at Blanton House.

·         Homecoming Parade, 10 a.m., down Lancaster Avenue and Main Street.

·         Memories at Martin, 10:30 a.m.-Noon, Martin Hall (which will be razed in early 2016).

·         Colonel Tailgate, 11 a.m., Alumni Coliseum Parking Lot.

·         EKU-Tennessee State football game, 3 p.m., Roy Kidd Stadium.

·         University Ensemble Reunion Concert, 8 p.m., Brock Auditorium.

Sunday, Oct. 25

·         Gubernatorial Debate, 6-7 p.m., EKU Center for the Arts, free tickets required, available at ekucenter.com or 859-622-7469.
