Published on November 03, 2016

Eastern Kentucky University will again participate in the National Roll Call and pay tribute to veterans in campus ceremonies on Friday, Nov. 11.

From 6:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in front of the EKU Veterans Memorial between the Powell and Wallace Buildings, volunteers will read the names of all service members who have died in the line of duty since the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. Anyone wanting to volunteer to read names should contact the EKU Military and Veteran Affairs Office at 622-2345.

A ceremony beginning at approximately 1:45 p.m. at the same location will include remarks by EKU President Michael Benson and EKU Vets President Shelby Jones, among others, as well as a “missing man” ceremony and participation in a national moment of silence. The “Talk of Heroes” essay winner will also be announced. The public is welcome.

EKU, home to more than 1,500 military-affiliated students and their dependents, regularly ranks among the nation’s leading schools for helping veterans achieve their educational goals.
