Eastern Kentucky University will participate in the National Roll Call and pay tribute to veterans in campus ceremonies on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

From 6:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Powell Plaza, volunteers will read the names of all service members who have died in the line of duty since the terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001.

A ceremony beginning at approximately 1:30 at the same location will include remarks by Sixth District Congressman Andy Barr; Dr. Eugene Palka, associate vice president for student success at EKU; and Dr. Bryan Cole, director of EKU’s Office of Military and Veterans Affairs. Palka, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Cole, a retired U.S. Army Major, served in Afghanistan. The public is welcome.

EKU, home to more than 1,500 military-affiliated students and their dependents, has ranked either No. 1 or No. 2 nationally in four of the past five years in the Military Times “Best for Vets” survey. Eastern has also been recognized by Victory Media as a Military Friendly School each of the past six years.
