Dr. Laurie Carter is going home to the Keystone State to serve as president of Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. The announcement was made on Thursday, May 18.
For the past three years, Carter has served as Executive Vice President and University Counsel at EKU. In an email to the Eastern campus, President Michael Benson said Carter "has earned this opportunity at Shippensburg, and I know she will accomplish great things in her home state.
"Under her leadership, we have seen tremendous growth in the area of Student Success and reached record enrollment, while greatly improving our graduation and retention rates. As University Counsel, she has also led the University through a number of complex contracts and negotiations to improve our services and facilities."
Carter earned her bachelor's degree at Clarion University, also part of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education.
