Eastern Kentucky University redshirt senior LJ Scott is a nominee for the 2018 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, one of the most esteemed off-the-field honor in college football.
Since 1992, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® has brought together a select group of college football players from across the country to honor their dedication to volunteerism and enriching the lives of other. While players are often recognized for their accomplishments and achievements on game day, these student-athletes have made significant contributions to the greater good of society, inspiring future generations of young athletes and the larger college football community.
Scott is the only Ohio Valley Conference football player to be nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®.
The Marion, Ohio native has been involved in numerous community service projects including: EKU Football Fan day, Move-In Day, Super Bowl Tailgate at Cross Roads Christian Church, National Student-Athlete Day Trash Clean-Up, Madison County Special Olympics and Jock N Roll fundraiser to send a military veteran to the OVC Basketball Tournament.
Scott received his undergraduate degree in business marketing in May 2018 with an overall GPA of 3.13. He will pursue a second degree in sport management.
Comprised of 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, III and NAIA the final roster of 22 award recipients will be unveiled in September. A special voting panel consisting of former Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® members and prominent college football media members will select the 2018 Good Works Team®.
This past season Scott was named second team All-OVC as a kick returner by the coaches and communication directors. He was chosen to the OVC All-Newcomer Team as a running back and kick returner and third team All-OVC by Phil Steele. Scott rushed for 294 yards on 86 carries and scored a team-best six rushing touchdown. He caught 16 passes for 114 yards. Scott compiled 629 kickoff return yards on 21 returns, an average of 30 yards per return. He led the OVC and finished fourth in the country in kickoff return average. He had 141 kickoff return yards on four returns (35.3 ypr) at Kentucky (Sept. 9), including a 53-yard return. He totaled 150 yards on four returns at No. 3 Jacksonville State (Oct. 14), ripping off returns of 57 yards and 48 yards.

It’s an honor to partner with Allstate to publicize the great works these student-athletes achieve each year.”
Tim Tebow, two-time national champion, Heisman Trophy winner and 2009 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® member, will once again headline the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® voting panel.
