Liliana Gomez de Coss has been named the new director of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at Eastern Kentucky University.
“I believe that through effective leadership, honest conversations, and encouraged student involvement, change can happen that will positively affect the campus community and all those who interact with it in the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs,” she said.
Before being appointed director, Gomez de Coss served as associate director of Latino retention and outreach, where she helped institute recruitment and retention initiatives to encourage Latino student success. Under her leadership, the University welcomed the largest incoming Latino class in recent years, and the highest retention rate of Latino students compared to other groups. She continues to serve as the Latino Student Association adviser, Freshman Academy staff mentor and co-director of EKU Camino to Success Camp. “In this new role, I will strive to be a resource to all students, faculty and staff,” she said.
Gomez de Coss earned a bachelor of business administration degree in finance and marketing from University of Kentucky in 2011 and a master’s of public administration degree from EKU in 2017. During her time at Eastern, she has received the Staff Diversity Award for her work in diversity and inclusion, and the Staff Vagina Award for her advocacy in women’s equality.
