An Eastern Kentucky University graduate student has received a scholarship from the Kentucky Public Health Association (KPHA).
Tyler Caldwell, London, who’s pursuing a master’s degree in public health, is the 2017 recipient of the Ellen M. Buchart Scholarship. The scholarship, which honors the memory of a former KPHA president, provides assistance to a college-level junior, senior or graduate student with a health- or science-related major who is a member of the association. Preference is given to students in public health programs.
Caldwell, who received $2,000, also earned his bachelor’s degree in public health from EKU in 2016. For the past year, he has been employed at the Laurel County Health Department, where he is involved with community health education. He also serves as a graduate assistant at EKU, working with the employee wellness program, Healthy YOU! at EKU.
He expects to complete his master’s degree in 2018 and continue to serve Laurel Countians at the health department.
