Two professors from the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences at Eastern Kentucky University have been named to leadership positions with a national journal.
Dr. Russell Carpenter, executive director of the Noel Studio for Academic Creativity and associate professor of English, and Dr. Jennifer Fairchild, associate professor of communication studies, will serve as editor and associate editor, respectively, of the Communication Center Journal. The journal is associated with two national communication organizations – the National Association of Communication Centers (NACC) and National Communication Association (NCA).
Additionally, Fairchild has been asked to serve as a faculty mentor for the metacognition course in EKU’s DEEP (Developing Excellence in Eastern’s Professors) faculty development system designed by the Faculty Innovation Workgroup. “Dr. Fairchild is the ideal faculty member to lead these efforts,” Carpenter said. “We’ve enjoyed highly successful collaborations with Dr. Fairchild and her students in the Noel Studio. She is innovative and creative in her teaching, exactly what we need in these roles.”
Dr. Pam Parry, interim chair of EKU’s Department of Communication, added: “Our department is grateful for the wonderful working relationship we have with Dr. Carpenter and the Noel Studio. These two new leadership roles for Dr. Fairchild are evidence of that teamwork.”
