Eastern Kentucky University President David McFaddin selected Amy Scarborough to join EKU as its Chief Government, Community and Corporate Relations Officer. Scarborough will lead efforts to position higher education initiatives at the forefront of state, local and federal government priorities and will serve on the President’s Cabinet.
“I am thrilled to bring Amy to our team,” McFaddin said. “Her education and extensive experience will help us build meaningful partnerships with legislators, community leaders and other stakeholders that will elevate EKU across the Commonwealth.”
Scarborough comes to EKU after serving as AT&T’s Regional Director for Central and Eastern Kentucky. She earned an undergraduate degree from Samford University and a master’s degree from the University of South Alabama.
In addition to serving AT&T, Scarborough has been active in many local and state organizations including serving as the Richmond Chamber of Commerce president in 2005 where she continues to serve on the board of directors, the Harlan County Economic Development Authority, the board of directors for Bluegrass Tomorrow and is a graduate of Leadership Kentucky.
“I am excited about the opportunity to work for EKU and support the region I love so much,” Scarborough said. “I look forward to helping the university meet its objectives and positively impact the region and the Commonwealth on all levels: local, state and federal. Higher education is crucial to the economic prosperity of the region and the state and advocating for EKU’s key priorities will be my main goal.”
Scarborough lives in Madison County with her husband, D.P. Scarborough, and two daughters.
