Eastern Kentucky University’s public radio station WEKU has unveiled a newly updated website, which can be found at WEKU.org. The new site provides more information and a streamlined viewing experience, said WEKU Director and General Manager Mike Savage.
“Our staff has been working with our partners at NPR for weeks to update and freshen the user experience at weku.org,” said Savage. “The website is more user-friendly and provides more resources and content for our listeners.”
The updated site provides listeners and viewers access to world, national, and Kentucky content in an easier-to-use format with audio, video, and live streaming of WEKU News and Classical Channels. The site also allows easy navigation to important coronavirus data from the Kentucky Department of Health as well as live video of Governor Andy Beshear’s Coronavirus briefings.
The updated website can be viewed at www.weku.org on desktop computers and mobile devices.
The station is currently in its fall pledge drive, which started Sept. 17 and will run until Sept. 23 at noon. You can donate here to ensure the station continues to provide its content and resources free to the public.
Director and General Manager Savage was recently named one of the Best Managers In Radio for the third year in a row. Industry publication Radio Ink recognizes the 30 best managers across the country annually. Savage came to manage WEKU in 2018 and has turned the station into a leading public radio organization. In 2019 he was elected to the NPR Board of Directors for a three-year term.
“WEKU serves as an incredible resource for our EKU service region,” said EKU President Dr. David McFaddin. “Broadcasting to more than 1.5 million residents, I am proud of the work our team does every day to bring both news and entertainment to central and eastern Kentucky.”
Savage said he is humbled by the Best Managers Award and credits his staff for the station’s success. “I am proud to lead a really good team of dedicated staff who believe in my leadership and the mission of public radio. Their hard work is recognized through this award.”
WEKU is a public radio service of Eastern Kentucky University and serves Central and Eastern Kentucky with News, Arts and Cultural content through nine broadcast transmitters, WEKU.org, and the WEKU mobile app.
