As part of its mission to offer increased access to higher education within its service region, Eastern Kentucky University plans to offer courses toward the Associate Degree in General Studies at the Rockcastle Adult Education Center in Mt. Vernon.

Seventeen interested students attended a recent open house at the facility. EKU representatives from the Dual Credit Program and the University’s Central Region were on hand to speak to the students about admission to the University, ACT eligibility for scholarships, financial aid, and the first classes to be offered in January 2016.

If enrollment is sufficient, EKU will offer three college-level classes at the Rockcastle Adult Education Center beginning Jan. 19, 2016.

EKU’s Associate Degree in General Studies is designed for students who wish to advance in their careers, change careers, pursue a lifelong interest beyond their careers, or use the degree as a pathway to a baccalaureate degree. Upon successful completion of the degree, the student will have meet all general education requirements, which will apply toward a four-year program at EKU or any other regional Kentucky institution.

To apply for the program, students can go to admissions.eku.edu and apply online before Dec. 1, the application deadline for spring.  For additional information, call 606-256-0218.
