The Center for Student Accessibility (CSA) at EKU was featured recently by Insight into Diversity magazine for its effort to promote the benefits of higher education to youth from underrepresented groups and assist them with their transition.
As the article notes, an Appalachian Transition Grant allows the University to assist students from 51 Kentucky counties with the transition to college. For high school juniors and seniors, the effort begins with CSA’s summer transition program, Planning to Win, a three-day camp built around educational and inspirational workshops
The article, which also features a program at Central Michigan University, can be viewed in its entirety at www.insightintodiversity.com/institutions-offer-programs-to-assist-underrepresented-youth-with-transition-to-college/.
Earlier this year, EKU became the only regional university in Kentucky to receive the 2017 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from Insight into Diversity magazine.
