The Eastern Kentucky University choral program has released its first recording project.
“Unclouded Day,” recorded by the EKU University Singers under the direction of Dr. Richard Waters, professor of music and director of choral activities, features music by a wide variety of composers, including Eric William Barnum, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Edvard Grieg, Shawn Kirchner, Jake Runestad, Urmas Sisask, Randall Thompson, Tomás Luis de Victoria, and Thomas Weelkes. Recorded and mastered by Dr. Shane Hoose, assistant professor of music industry and recording arts, it also includes pieces from two recording sessions in the loggia at First Christian Church in Richmond, as well as a recording session in the ballroom of Kent Wyatt Hall.
University Singers is EKU’s premiere choral ensemble. This 36-voice choir presents several major concerts throughout the year and frequently performs with the Lexington Philharmonic. Recent highlights include performances at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., and the 2016 KMEA state conference in Louisville.
Compact discs are available for purchase in the EKU choral office, at all EKU choir concerts, and online at CD Baby. Digital downloads are available for purchase online at Amazon, CD Baby and iTunes.
