Choir Concert Features Premiere of Commissioned Work

The Eastern Kentucky University Concert Choir and University Singers will present “Miniature Masterworks II” on Sunday, March 6, at 4 p.m. in Brock Auditorium.

The University Singers will perform the festival cantata “Rejoice in the Lamb” by English composer Benjamin Britten. The Concert Choir will present the Kentucky premiere of “The Longest Nights” by American composer Timothy Takach. This seven-movement cycle was commissioned by a consortium of 42 choirs from across the United States.

The choirs will be led by Richard Waters, professor of music and director of choral activities at EKU, and choral conducting graduate students LeMorris Hunt and Travis Morris. They will be accompanied by organist Jennifer Marshall and pianist Chase Moore.
