Eastern Kentucky University student Morgan Stone has been invited to serve as a Peace Corps volunteer.

Stone, a criminal justice and police studies graduate student from Richmond, will serve as a secondary education English teacher in Moldova beginning in June of next year.

She credits her time in the criminal justice program for helping her develop a passion for social justice and helping underserved populations.

“The professors and students that I have worked with this past year have been truly inspiring and I consider myself extremely blessed to have been able to collaborate with and learn from them,” Stone said.

She also said she never imagined she’d be accepted to such a prestigious program, but she’s excited for the opportunity.

“I truly believe that by participating in this program I will open myself up to some amazing memories and experiences that have the potential to change my life,” Stone said.

“I am also extremely blessed with the love and support from all of my friends and family, and I hope that I can make them proud during my time as a Peace Corps volunteer.”
