Eastern Kentucky University has named Ryan Green as executive director of budgeting and financial planning.

Most recently, Green has served as executive director for the Office of Budget and Administration in the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet, where he oversaw daily accounting, purchasing, facility and property management and budgeting practices and assisted Cabinet agencies with their biennial operating and capital budget requests and budget implementation.

“I’m excited to join the wonderful faculty and staff at Eastern Kentucky University and look forward to being a Colonel,” Green said.

During his tenure at the Office of Budget and Administration, Green collaborated with Dr. Aris Cedeno to expand the Governor Scholar’s Program and assisted with the creation of the Kentucky Center for Education and Workforce Statistics. He also led efforts to partner with the Federal Rehabilitation Services Administration to remodel and upgrade key facility components at the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Johnson County, Kentucky, and assisted the Department for Libraries and Archives in consolidating and later expanding their temporary records storage at a savings to all Kentucky public services required to store temporary records.

Previously, Green was a senior policy and budget analyst in the Kentucky Office of State Budget Director, where his duties included advising and assisting all nine postsecondary education intuitions with their biennial operating and capital budget requests as well as managing the statewide capital budget assignment.

Green received a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in national security policy from the Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce at UK.

He and his wife, Keely, a former Kentucky History Teacher of the Year who joins the Caudill Middle School faculty this fall, have two children, Cullen, 6, and Sullivan, 3.
