Regional Stewardship Hires New Marketing/PR Interns

Published on November 09, 2020

Eastern Kentucky University’s Office of Regional Stewardship has hired Allison Brimm and Caitlin Riley as their Marketing and Public Relations interns. Brimm is a sophomore Public Relations major from Corbin, KY, and Riley is a junior Graphic Design major from Georgetown, KY.

Brimm and Riley will be a vital part of the office’s mission to improve Kentucky’s communities and EKU’s standing in its service region by partnering with local service organizations throughout southeastern Kentucky. Some of these organizations include SOAR, East Kentucky Leadership Foundation, and Berea Partners for Education. The interns will work for both the Office of Regional Stewardship and partner entities earning their own work experience, building networks, and improving their portfolios along the way.

“I am looking forward to working with the Regional Stewardship office and getting to grow and gain experience in my PR career,” Brimm said. “As an eastern Kentucky native, I am passionate about the region and I am proud to have this opportunity to serve our community and partner organizations.”

"This is a very fun experience for me getting to work at EKU while helping to support nonprofits in the region," Riley said. "I am excited to get the opportunity to broaden my resume and learn more skills to be able to put in my tool belt while still in school."

Maggie Bill, Regional Stewardship Coordinator, is a direct supervisor for the interns and liaison for employers. She has seen many interns go from internships, straight to work after graduation.

“When these students complete their internships, their resumes demonstrate successful project management and show a diverse skill set,” Bill said. “This internship provides the opportunity to develop a robust portfolio reflecting real, hands-on work experience.”

Right alongside EKU, the Office of Regional Stewardship seeks to improve its positive impact and service to the area and its students. Through community outreach, grant development, online media, and hands-on assistance, this office works to continually support the missions and visions of the University.
