The Eastern Kentucky University Foundation, through its donors, is providing more opportunities than ever before for EKU students.
The Foundation has set two important records in the 2017-2018 academic year: scholarship awards have been given to more students, and at a higher total funding level, than ever before.
The Foundation awarded 1,366 scholarships during the 2017-18 academic year, marking a new record high for the number of Foundation Scholarships awarded.
The scholarships totaled more than $1.125 million, also setting a record number for the total scholarship dollars provided.
Funds used to award Foundation Scholarships are made possible through the generosity of EKU’s alumni, friends and supporters.
“We are thrilled that so many of those who love EKU and support her mission helped to make this a special year in the awarding of scholarships,” said Dan McBride EKU’s associate vice president for development and alumni engagement and the executive director of the EKU Foundation. “It is our belief that every student should have the opportunity to be whatever they want to be, not only what they can afford to be.”
This marks the fourth consecutive year that the Foundation has set new record highs in scholarships awarded.
“Foundation scholarships are important to the affordability of the university, and are an integral part of making EKU Kentucky’s college and a School of Opportunity,” McBride said.
Additional scholarships will also be awarded during EKU’s summer sessions.
